A statewide conference on "Urban Rivers and Their Neighborhoods" provided local officials and activists with successful approaches to realize the potential of urban rivers in creating healthier cities. Held on November 20, 2004, at the Culinary Institute on Rock Street in Fall River, this statewide conference included discussion about greenways and trails, engaging developers and city officials, effective partnerships, organizing community-based groups, and project funding. A follow-up to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA's) award winning Urban River Visions pilot program, the event was sponsored by Green Futures and the Urban Ecology Institute and funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Environmental Trust.
