In an effort to promote the city's waterfront (one of the Healthy City Priority Areas), Mayor Edward M. Lambert, Jr. announced plans for four Sunset Parties to take place on Fall river's waterfront throughout the summer. The first "Sunset Party" took place on July 21st and featured a 1950s theme. The second in the series of four parties featured a jazz theme and took place on August 4th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at  Heritage State Park. According to the Fall River Herald News, Lambert said, "Our first Sunset Party was very successful with hundreds of people turning out to experience the event. The weather also cooperated, which helped to add to what was a wonderful evening. I am once again encouraging residents and visitors to come and share in our festivities."
