The Seventh Day Adventist Church has a strong emphasis on healthy living practices, and a number of their institutions specialize in health care. The Greater Fall River English and Portuguese Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2695 North Main Street teamed up with Southcoast Hospitals Group to host a workshop on Women's Health and Prevention Awareness on May 21, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Participants received information about health and health care, testing of blood pressure, cholesterol and bone density and a free car wash provided by church youth. The highlight of the morning activities was a PowerPoint presentation on women's health provided by Tim Vehlo, LPN, CSE, an employee of Southcoast Hospitals Group' RAPPP Program. This is the second event offered to the public by the church which seeks to engage people in positive health practices. For more information about this event or other health ministries of the church, contact Tim Velho or visit www.amazingfacts.org .
