Pat Casey, City Councilor and President of the Sandy Beach Neighborhood Association, joined with Pastor Ron Bernier of the Master Builder Christian Church to organize a neighborhood clean-up of Bay Street in the City's South End on April 29, 2006. The event brought together over a dozen volunteers who spent three hours sweeping, raking and picking up trash along the busy boulevard. "We've been planning this event for a long time," noted Councilor Casey who has been meeting with members of the church to address issues of concern to the neighborhood. "This group has a commitment to transforming the community," added Pastor Bernier, "and this is a tangible way we can make a difference in the lives of our local residents."
