Twenty-one million people in America have diabetes. The number is growing to epidemic proportions. Are you at risk? Rose Resendes, RN, Diabetes Educator for St. Anne's Hospital answered this question before an audience made up of foster mothers at the Robert F. Stoico/FIRSTFED Center for Breast Care at St. Anne's, part of the "Just for You" speaker series, held on March 29, 2006. Ms. Resendes explained the what, why and how of diabetes and what anyone can do to prevent, delay or control diabetes and to break the "diabetes cycle." Many of the mothers in attendance were concerned about prevention of diabetes in their children after hearing about the rise of Type II diabetes among adolescents in the past ten years.

The FIRSTFED Center for Breast Care at Saint Anne's Hospital offers a monthly "Just for You" speaker series, to promote knowledge of health topics of interest to women. The series is held in the center from 6-7 p.m. Light refreshments are served. There is no charge, but seating is limited and reservations are strongly suggested by calling (508) 235-5289.
