Organized by and leaders of the Roundtable of the Fall River Neighborhood Associations with the assistance of youth members of the B.O.L.D Coalition, the third of four debates between Bristol County District Attorney Paul F. Walsh, Jr. and his opponent Samuel Sutter took place at the our Lady of Light Band hall on Quarry Street on August 30, 2006. Given the importance of safety and substance abuse issues to the two groups, their collaboration on the debate helped to reinforce their leadership’s commitment of both organizations in addressing local issues. "The event was a huge success," commented Maplewood Association President Jeanne Santos. "The hall was filled to capacity, and we were pleased that everyone had the opportunity to hear the candidates respond to the questions submitted by members of the associations." The Roundtable is composed of representatives from the Bank Street, Corky Row, Flint West Village, Highlands, Lower Highlands and Historic Downtown District, Maplewood, Niagara, North End, and Sandy Beach. Neighborhood associations have had a strong interest in public safety issues and have sponsored meetings on related issues of concern in an effort to strengthen citizen involvement in local issues including the Lower Highlands and Maplewood associations.
