Mayor Edward M.
Lambert, Jr., offered a no-cost drop-off day at the Lewiston Street DPW
complex for all Fall River residents to dispose of bulky items, metal
appliances, tires and hazardous waste such as computer monitors,
televisions and devices containing mercury or lead, on May 13, 2006. The
event was part of the Mayor's
Clean
and Green initiative which encourages residents to
dispose of
bulky items in an effort to keep the City clean. According to
Charles Denmead,
Supervisor, Fall River
Department of
Public Works, free
drop-off days are offered once or twice a year to discourage illegal
dumping and to encourage residents to clear away trash and bulky items.
Cleaner streets is one of the Healthy City
Action
Priorities. |
