One of the main entrances to the city — one that is used by thousands of people every day — used to send a terrible message. The Route 79 exit ramp off of the eastbound lane of the Braga Bridge was strewn with trash on both sides so that motorists stopping at the end of the exit ramp got an ugly first view of the city. After seeing the condition of the exit ramp time and time again, Senator Joan Menard called John Feitelberg of the Feitelberg Insurance, whose office faces the exit, and asked if he could help. John agreed and hired Mr. Silva and son to do the work. Thanks to John  and the work of Tony Torres and his son Jason, the entrance to the city sends a positive, welcoming message to all who enter. Now one of the Healthy City goals, Cleaner Streets and Parks, is a little closer to reality. This is what Healthy City Fall River is all about!

(Top row, left) Trash has accumulated primarily from passing motorists over the years, leaving a poor image of the city for all who enter from the Route 79 exit from the Braga Bridge. (Top row, center) Tony Silva and his son were employed by John Feitelberg to clear the trash and then to put down mulch and plant flowers. (Bottom row) Petunias now grace the entrance on both sides and provide a welcoming entrance to the city.
