The Fall River Parks Department provides two skateboarding parks for city youth: one at Abbot Court Park in the South End and one at North Park. Both parks get plenty of use throughout the summer months, providing heart-healthy activity for young people. Twelve parks and 14 playgrounds are located throughout the city to provide opportunities for recreation. The Fall River Board of Park Commissioners, under the leadership of the Director of Parks and Recreation, oversees the operation of all city parks, and is planning to undertake construction of a third skateboard park later this year at Lafayette Park on Eastern Avenue.
