Students from the Salter School on Hartwell Street offered free massages to passers-by in the lobby of the Cherry & Webb building, home of the University of Massachusetts Professional Learning Center on South Main Street, on April 6, 2006. Massage is known to increase employee performance and productivity by decreasing job stress, increasing alertness and speed and accuracy (Field, Ironson & Pickents, et al, 1996). This preventive technique is available to anyone at the school for only $10 daytime and $20 evenings by calling for an appointment.
