In an effort to emphasize the importance of increased physical activity, good nutrition and summer safety for the entire family, the HealthFirst Family Care Center held a Summer Safety Fair for the entire community on May 20, 2006. Activities included music and dance contests, a family story session provided by David Mello, Director of Children’s Services at the Fall River Public Library, child passenger safety and professional installation of children’s car seats by the Fall River Police Department, tips from the Fall River WIC Program on summer food safety, the American Cancer Society’s skin analyzing machine to detect potential sun damage, face painting, games, prizes, refreshments and more. “As a community health center, we strive to educate our patients so that they take an active role in maintaining good health”, stated James Quinn, M.D. Medical Director. HealthFirst is a non-profit community health center whose mission is to provide quality health care to those who would not otherwise have access to care, especially those who do not have health insurance.  Most third party insurances are also accepted.  The Center offers primary care services for adults and children, obstetrics, cardiology, chronic disease management, nutrition, social and laboratory services, dental outreach and a WIC supplemental nutrition education program.
