The fourth annual Fall River Street Tree Planting Program Benefit game took place at the Boys & Girls Club on November 18, 2006, pitting members of the Fall River City Council, Mayor's Office and School Committee against volunteers from Charlton Hospital. The event raises funds each year to support the program which plants and cares for trees throughout the city. During the half-time break, Tom Athearn, a friend of the Fall River Street Tree Planting Program and volunteer who has demonstrated great personal effort to promote, protect and enhance Fall River's urban forest, was recognized. Ten citizens who have completed the tree steward training  course offered by the program were also thanked for volunteering their time to the City.
