The Lower Highlands Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association held its second annual "Arts Around the Block" event along Purchase Street on September 23, 2007. Local artists and musicians lined two blocks of Purchase Street from Franklin to Cherry Streets to show their wares and entertain the crowds. Performances included ballet by the Spindle City Ballet, the Buggies rock band, the Bellringers of First Baptist Church, harpsichord by Judith Conrad and the Fall River Fipple Fluters. The event was entirely free and included lots of hands-on events for children, including sidewalk chalk drawing and face painting. To read the Herald News article about the event, click here.
