The Federal Independent League opened its season on April 28, 2007, at Kennedy Park with a ceremony that included a performance by the Durfee Navy Junior R.O.T.C. Cadets and announcement of the winners of the Pepsi Pitch, Hit and Run contest the week before. The League plays most of its games at the Arthur Sunderland Memorial Field at Kennedy Park under the shadow of the St. Anne Shrine. Nearly 300 boys and girls are involved in either t-ball, minor, major, junior or senior divisions of the league.
