The Greater Fall River
Re-Creation Committee's annual 5K Spring Sprint took off from the
Municipal Veterans Memorial at 72 Bank Street at 10:00 a.m. on April 28,
2007. Dozens of walkers and several runners headed down Central Street to Heritage
State Park and the boardwalk that runs along the Taunton River to
Bicentennial Park. The heart-healthy walk wrapped around the Iwo Jima
Monument and then doubled back up the hill to Bank Street. Thousands of dollars were
raised for programs at Community Development Recreation, even more than
last year, which will be used to enhance existing programs.
