A 2-mile walk was sponsored at Heritage State Park on May 5, 2007, to raise funds for  “Cymry’s Christmas Wish,” a non-profit organization. All monies raised are used to purchase toys for organizations such as the Citizens for Citizens Toys for Tots event, Family Service Association and others, and children in the pediatric unit at Saint Anne’s Hospital. Cymry, 33, is the first developmentally disabled president of a non-profit corporation. Costa was recognized for her many volunteer efforts in the community and her annual toy drive to benefit less fortunate children at a reception at White’s of Westport in 2005. “Differently abled” is how Costa sees herself. Along with her family, Costa’s hope is to educate young and old alike that being different doesn’t mean that one cannot lead a productive life. Cymry was selected as a Home Town Hero by BankFive and was named Distinguished Citizen by the Association of Retarded Citizens.
