As a
continuing part of Fall River's
"Clean and
Green" Initiative, members of the Maplewood Neighborhood
Association and the City's
Department of
Public Works (DPW) gathered in the
parking lot of Maplewood Park on Saturday, May 26, 2007, to clean up
accumulated trash. The City has coordinated collective cleanups in
targeted areas in conjunction with neighborhood groups and community
organizations have helped to remove sand and litter from the streets and
sidewalks. "The City does a great job of providing an energetic crew of DPW workers along with trash removal and street cleaning vehicles,"
commented
Neighborhood Association President Jeanne Santos. Volunteers
from the neighborhood joined the crew in returning the trash-strewn
field to useable public space. Call the DPW at 508-324-2585 for information about how the city can
assist residents with their own planned cleanup projects. |
