The Flint Village West Neighborhood Association intends to remove as much of the graffiti, in particular gang symbols, from buildings in the neighborhood that have been marked by gangs. Current technology permits complete removal of most spray paint markings within 72 hours. Through a Healthy City micro-grant, property owners in the Flint Neighborhood are offered the chance to remove graffiti. Removal of gang markings helps to reduce gang rivalry and "ownership" of territory within the city. Members of the Durfee High School Peaceful Coalition assisted in removing graffiti from the Modern Furniture warehouse at Quarry and Doyle Streets in the Flint. For more information about the project, contact Flint Village West Neighborhood Association President Catherine Assad at 508-673-6387.
