In 1999, a small group of community members, Saint Anne's Hospital employees and Hudner Oncology Center patients joined forces to do something about cancer. They chose to "get moving." These individuals planted the seed for what has become the Slades Bank Get Moving Walk that raises funds for the Hudner Center. Volunteers work tirelessly throughout the year securing sponsors, recruiting walkers, and attending to the smallest event details. Each year they keep one vision in mind when planning the walk: making a difference for the patients of the Hudner Oncology Center. On May 12, 2007, more than 600 registered walkers, accompanied by families, friends, strollers, and pet dogs, enjoyed a perfect spring morning walk on behalf of the Center at Saint Anne's Hospital. Starting at the Diman Vocational Regional Technical High School gym on Stonehaven Road, the group followed a  route through the streets around the high school and ending at the school track. Many walkers were part of teams organized by many companies and organizations who participate each year. Click here to read a story about the Center in the Herald News.
