Organized by Principal Kathy Burt, the St. Peter and Paul Walking School Bus project involved over fifty children in a six-week walk-to-school project during October and November 2007. School child care instructor Jenn Souza walked a group of children and teachers from the school on Dover Street each morning to the Rite-Aide parking lot at the top of Plymouth Avenue. There, they met children whose parents drive their children to school each morning and walked the half mile route back to the school. "It was wonderful," states Ms. Souza. "The children were very well behaved and really enjoyed the chance to get some healthy exercise every morning before school," she added. On November 9, 2007, awards were given to every child who participated and pedometers provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health were given to the children who walked nearly every morning.
