Students from the six YouthBuild programs across Massachusetts gathered on November 15, 2007, at 72 Bank Street, home of the YouthBuild Fall River program, for a day-long Annual Chess Tournament. The competition that encourages competition, networking and social skill building involves all kinds of board games including checkers, connect-4, Monopoly, Scrabble and dominoes. "These kids are using problem-solving skills and math without being in a classroom," commented program director Terry Moran. YouthBuild , a ten-month construction skills training curriculum for men and women ages 17-24 who have not completed high school, is operated in Fall River by the Old Colony YMCA.  Click here, here, and here to see other YouthBuild projects.
