The Lower Highlands Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association held its third annual "Arts Around the Block" event along Purchase Street on September 21, 2008. Local artists and musicians lined two blocks of Purchase Street from Franklin to Cherry Streets to show their wares and entertain the crowds. Performances included the Buggies rock band, the Daemones and friends, and Abby and Jay Michaels of The Harper and The Minstrel playing Celtic music. The event was entirely free and included lots of hands-on events for children, including sidewalk chalk drawing and face painting. To read the Herald News article about the event, click here.
