The
Atlantis Charter School
held a Community Health Awareness Day at the Upper School campus on
Park and South Main Street on May 3, 2008. The event offered free
health screenings, fire prevention and EMS services, and fitness
demonstrations from a variety of local agency staff.
Nancy
Medeiros, RN, Nurse Manager from the Pulmonary unit at Charlton
Memorial Hospital was also on hand with a display from the
Tar
Wars smoking prevention program that was recently run at the
school.
The annual event also offered the opportunity for participants to
participate in a 10K wellness
walk around Kennedy Park, situated across South Main Street from
the School. Food for the event was donated by the
Stop & Shop store on
Rodman Street, and
Andrews Produce on South Main Street. For more information about
the event, contact the
Atlantis
Family Learning Center Director
