Jessica Williams, nutritionist for the UMass Extension Nutrition Education program, offered two seminars for the public at Bristol Community College during March 2008. These programs covered basic information on how to plan, shop for and prepare a nutritious diet, with a focus on fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Content also included the major food groups in the new food pyramid (www.MyPyramid.gov) as well as information on food safety and nutrition facts label reading. "People are hungry for information on what to buy and prepare to get the best nutritional value for their dollar," commented program director Pat Bebo. "These seminars are one way people can get reliable information", she added. Click here to see Jessica and other instructors in the school nutrition program.
