The
Diabetes Association, Inc.
(DAI) held one
of its weekly educational sessions for people with diabetes or those who
have been determined to be pre-diabetic by their physicians.
Nutritionist Deb Moriarty of the Lakeville YMCA, presented some of the
basics of healthy eating, carbohydrate counting and food label reading
to help participants learn or review how best to make food choices that
will help keep their symptoms in control. Lifestyle changes such as
healthy eating, moderate weight loss, and regular exercise are the main
treatments for these conditions. A good deal of education is required
for most people to maintain proper blood sugar levels, and the Diabetes
Association offers opportunities every week for people with diabetes and
those at risk for developing the condition. For more info on upcoming events, call John P. Quintas at
508-672-5671 or email John
Quintas. |
