Volunteers from Citizens-Union Savings Bank held a Kiddie Olympic event at Fall River Celebrates America to give younger children a chance to test their abilities. A course that included three relay events -- a crab walk, a sponge relay and an egg and spoon race -- was set up on the lawn at Heritage State Park. The 22nd annual festival also included music, food, amusement rides, games and fireworks held at the City Pier, the Fall River Carousel and Battleship Cove, with a theme of “Our Community’s Family Festival”. The three-day event also included a complete line-up of local bands, the popular Fall River Catches a Star competition, and a new Kids’ World area that included a man-made beach, a marine touch tank exhibit, entertainment, a bubble dome and more. Bands included the Funky White Honkies, Soul Power, Down & Dirty, Apponequet Summersing, The Streamline Band, New Image, Ilhas de Bruma, d’Alma and Santa Mamba.
