Community Development Recreation (CD-REC) on Bank Street was the location for three hours of games offered to children during their winter school vacation by members of the F.R.E.S.H. Team. Older youth from Fall River Extends Supportive Hands (F.R.E.S.H.), a youth leadership group of Fall River teens organized under the Healthy Youth Task Force, provided the supervision and instruction. Over thirty children from the Citizens for Citizens after-school program, along with others from the community, assembled in the gym for the chance to join in half a dozen activities including soccer, bean bag toss, parachute games and an arts and crafts table. Following a snack of popcorn and lemonade, the children took part in relay races that included running and sack races. These heart-healthy activities provided a good alternative to sedentary activities, especially during the cold February weather.
