Over 800 runners
participated in the 14th Annual Officer
Thomas J. Giunta
Memorial 5K Road Race on a cold, raw Sunday, on April 6, 2008. The
race began at Bank and High Streets and followed a 5K
course up High Street to New Boston Road, Oak Grove Avenue and back to
the finish line in front of the Salvation Army on Bedford Street. A
dozen participants in the
Fitness Challenge, who had trained for the race in the preceding
weeks, participated in turquoise tee shirts provided by Personal Trainer
Amy Jones of
Where Is The Work-Out. The race is run annually as a scholarship
fundraiser in memory of Officer Thomas Giunta who was shot and killed in the line of duty in 1994. It provides
a terrific opportunity for heart healthy activity, both at the race and
the weeks of preparation leading up to it. Click here to see race results. To see photos from last year's race, click
