Heritage State Park on the banks of the Taunton River was the setting for Fall River Heritage Days commemorating the 230th anniversary of the Battle of Fall River held on August 23rd and 24th, 2008. Sponsored by the Lafayette-Durfee House, the Friends of Heritage State Park, the City of Fall River and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the event included a Revolutionary War encampment, musket drills, Colonial Era demonstrations, an 18th Century Colonial fashion display and other historical displays from the Friends of Oak Grove Cemetery, the Fall River Fire Museum, the Fall River Preservation Society and Green Futures. Free trolley rides were available to these locations where admission was half price. Funding for the event was provided by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council.
