Some of the members of Team F.R.E.S.H. and Teens Against Drug Abuse (TADA) held a demonstration against tobacco on Kick Butts Day, April 2, 2008, along Broadway between upper and lower Kennedy Park in Fall River. They joined kids across Massachusetts and thousands of young people nationwide for the 13th annual Kick Butts Day, sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. This year's Kick Butts Day raised awareness about continued tobacco marketing and sales to kids and the need for Congress to crack down on these harmful practices by passing legislation granting the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authority to regulate tobacco products. The Fall River demonstration was conceived by Ross Dexter and Chris Parayno of TADA after reading about the national event. Click here to read the Herald News story about the event. For more information about TADA, contact SSTAR Youth Coordinator Mike Aguiar at 508-324-3598.
