The
Fall River Police Department,
in collaboration with the City's public school administration, offered
"Chill Time: Games Against Gangs", a free, after-school and evening
program of activities and fun during the 2007-2008 school year. Children
in grades six through twelve were invited to participate in sports,
hobbies and games in a safe and secure environment as an alternative to
gang involvement. Activities, including basketball, volleyball and
television production, were offered at B.M.C. Durfee High School, the
Durfee Alternative School, and Henry Lord, Matthew Kuss, Morton and
Talbot Middle Schools. School resource officers James Riley, Allen
Correiro, Michael Fogarty, Maria Kennedy, Joe Teixeira, Deb Jackson,
Mary Beth Buglio and Warren Francis each staffed the various activities
that occurred each weekday afternoon or evening.
