YMCA of the USA held a
"Steptember" campaign in almost every state from coast to coast
during America On the Move Week September 23-30, 2006. Events were held
to motivate and mobilize thousands of Americans to take small steps
towards a healthier lifestyle and families to incorporate healthier
living activities into their daily routines through "small steps" to get
them active and moving. The
Fall River YMCA
participated with a different activity each day of the week. "We wanted
to get adults of all ages to participate," stated program director
Mike Mahoney. "Everyone
had a chance to add ]steps] through a variety of activities, including
weight lifting for teens and adults and stretching for seniors." The Fall River Y runs a variety of programs six days a week in their
downtown location, each of which promote a healthy body, mind
and spirit.
