In order to give children a chance to be active during the April school vacation,  the Community Development Recreation (CD-REC) program offered a variety of special offerings during the week, including a wrestling clinic on April 24, 2009, with B.M.C. Durfee wrestling Coach Chris Antao. Participant had the opportunity to learn a number of moves that high school wrestlers use. Wrestling matches at the high school level consist of three periods totaling six minutes, with an overtime round, if necessary, if the score is tied at the end of regulation. High school matches are one minute shorter than college and university matches. Wrestling is an excellent conditioner, requiring strength training callisthenic exercises as well as aerobic conditioning, such as running. For more information about the CD-REC recreation program, go to www.CD-REC.org or call 508-679-0922.
