Mayor Robert Correia, the Fourth of July Committee, CD Recreation, Friends of Heritage State Park, and members of the business community sponsored events for a 4th of July Celebration held at Government Center and at Battleship Cove from July 2nd through July 5th, 2009. “Fall River residents deserve to celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks. Times are tough, but with the help of our business community, there will be fireworks at Heritage State Park,” said Mayor Robert Correia. “Everyone in the city and people in the surrounding communities are welcome to join in this celebration. Our businesses care enough to share what they have, and as a result, events will be held at no cost to the City.” Food, entertainment, crafts, trolley rides, and fireworks were part of the four-day celebration. Allied Waste Services of Fall River, Bank Five, Citizens-Union Savings Bank, Veolia Water and PrimaCARE supported the events.
