Fall River agency representatives and two City Councilors gathered on May 7, 2009 at the Father Diaferio Housing Development community room to review the Peace By Piece Summit held on March 28 at Bristol Community College. The meeting was hosted by the Violence Prevention Task Force, a committee of the United Neighbors Community Partnership. The group evaluated various aspects of the Summit and then began formulating additional events to be held over the coming months to continue the benefits of the conference. Ideas included tying a Peace Walk and Hoop Fest scheduled for June 24th, the Summer Kick-off, the August National Night Out, Arts Around the Block in September and other events together to reinforce the message of the Summit. Additional meetings  over the summer will expand on these ideas, and and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Click here for photos of the original Summit announcement. For more information about the project, contact United Neighbors director Jenny Diblasi at 508-324-7900 or Youth Services coordinator Christian McCloskey at 508-324-2419.
