The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth (UMD) Sustainability Initiative sponsored a quarterly meeting of the newly-formed Southeastern Massachusetts Council on Sustainability  at the Woodland Common on December 10, 2009. About fifty representatives of university programs and community organizations in Southeastern Massachusetts participated in the two-hour session focused  Presenters included Dick Shafer on economic development, Glenn Bachman on energy, Kathleen Christianson on food and agriculture, Chad McGuire on natural resources and Alan Slavin on transportation.
