In coordination with Mayor William A. Flanagan, Community Development Recreation, the Fall River Police Department, and United Neighbors of Fall River., the Corky Row Neighborhood Association hosted a Neighborhood Appreciation Day in Griffin Park on June 28, 2010. The free event offered games and activities for children and served free hot dogs and hamburgers, soft drinks, as well as healthier alternatives. About one hundred neighborhood residents came out to enjoy the food, music and games that were offered before a late afternoon thunderstorm broke up the event around 6:00 p.m.. The Fall River Police Department was on hand to provide free fingerprinting for identification, and the Bristol County Sheriff''s Office was on hand to give tours of their mobile response trailer. The Fall River Fire Department also brought their "burning house" trailer to teach children about fire safety.
