Eat 2 The Beat, a free festival held at the Gates of the City was created in a partnership between Mayor Will Flanagan and The Herald News to celebrate the diversity of the city's food offerings. The waterfront came alive on September 4, 2010 as Bands played from noon to 10:00 p.m. before a crowds of several hundred. More than a dozen local restaurants offered food at a line-up of booths. "Foods from around the world were featured," stated City Director of Cultural Development Patrice Cloutier. "This is a very diverse community and our restaurants reflect that." The Mayor saw this as an opportunity to attract people from Rhode Island, the Cape and Boston to come to see what the City has to offer. "When they see our waterfront, we believe they will be excited about Fall River," Flanagan said, who got the idea from a visit to Epcot Center at Disney World in Orlando, FL. Bands included Tramps Like Us, Dirty Deeds, Bon Jersey, The Blushing Brides and November Rain. Click here for the Herald News article about the event.
