The 2010 Fitness Challenge, the third offered by the Diabetes Association, Inc. (DAI), Children In Balance, Community Development Recreation (CD-REC), the Fall River YMCA and Healthy Lives Fall River, held its second Fitness Challenge on February 6, 2010. CD-REC program director Jamison Souza challenged teams and individuals to walk from CD-REC headquarters on Bank Street down the hill to Battleship Cove and then to walk the mile-long boardwalk to the Iwo Jima Memorial monument at Bicentennial Park and back to CD-REC. Over twenty-five Challenge participants took advantage of the opportunity to increase their fitness despite the wintry weather. The Challenge continues for another ten weeks until the May 7th finale.
