Despite some
cold weather, hundreds of people showed up for a day of festivities
organized on behalf of newly-elected Mayor
Will Flanagan. Activities along the City's waterfront included free horse-drawn
wagon rides and ice sculpture
carving at the Ponta Delgada Gates
of the City, a live art exhibition by YEAH!
Youth Arts at the Marine
Museum, music at the Narrows Center for
the Arts and The Room at the Waterstreet
Cafe, live music at the Lotus
Rising Center, free rides for children at the Carousel,
and a variety of activities offered by the Fall
River Children's Museum at the Heritage
State Park Visitors' Center. Activities there also included clowns, a petting zoo,
crafts, and face painting along with free hot chocolate and pizza. The 3rd
annual Fall
River Fitness Challenge, which also attracted hundreds, took place at Community Development Recreation
on Bank Street during the same time period. Click
