In place of the discontinued Fall River Celebrates America festival, local organizer Ric Oliveira put together an expanded Kids' World event at Heritage State Park hosted by the Friends of Heritage State Park during Heritage Park Summerfest on August 8 & 9, 2010. Funding from Citizens Union, as well as other businesses and citizens, provided activities, including clowns, Trixx the magician, Bob Schenck and his Animal Instincts crew, TJ’s Music instructors and students giving lessons and performances, a sandpit hiding buried treasure, a giant inflatable playground, educational stands, costumed superheroes, including Mike DeMello as the Hulk, a working engine and fire safety practice course, crafts, and more. Having run the event last year as part of Fall River Celebrates, Mr. Oliveira hopes to make this an annual, free-standing event. Click here for Herald News photos of the event.
