Friends of the Oak Grove (FOG) Cemetery worked together on the planting of ten new trees in the Cemetery on June 5, 2010. The planting was part of a planting effort that added new trees to the Cemetery to replace older trees. The Oak Grove Cemetery is one of Fall River's treasures. Built in the mid-1800s, this cemetery was one of the first to be modeled on the park-like design of the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. It affords wonderful walking paths in a natural setting that is quiet and undisturbed. In order to continue to replace older trees, the Friends of Oak Grove Cemetery used contributions from numerous sources and have planted a total of 45 trees since 2009.
