Employees of People, Incorportated began a weekly Runners' Club on October 13, 2010. The Club is a component of the agency's Wellness Initiative which was created to foster employee health and wellness. Diabetes Association director Mike Ramos, a member of the Wellness Committee, encouraged fellow employees to join him for the weekly two-mile run or walk along the Taunton River. Participants gathered in the parking lot of Heritage State Park under the Braga Bridge at Battleship Cove and headed along boardwalk all the way to the Iwo Jima Memorial monument at Bicentennial Park and back. The plan is to continue the weekly event until Thanksgiving. Participants noted how much better they feel after the weekly events and hoped that more employees will join them in coming weeks.
