In partnership with CVS/Caremark, District Attorney Sam Sutter announced a free introductory sailing clinic specifically designed for children with disabilities on August 19, 2010. The clinic took place at the Fall Rive Community Boating program held at Heritage State Park on the City's waterfront at Battleship Cove and included instruction in sailing basics, like moving the sails and rudder, and sailing terms like tacking and jibing. Paul Callahan, a United States paralympian from Newport, R.I., leads the Sail to Prevail program that introduces sailing to children with disabilities. Since taking office in 2007, District Attorney Sam Sutter has sponsored free tennis, basketball and baseball clinics for the youth of Bristol County in hopes of promoting healthy habits and exercise. The clinics have reached an average of 1,000 youth each year. Click here for the Herald News article. To register for  the sailing clinic, contact program director Brian Rose at 508-961-1972.
