The Youth
CHOICES task force (Community
building and mobilization for Healthy youth development through positive
Opportunities, Intervention and prevention, Collaboration,
Empowerment and Support to ensure Success)
held a Funapalooza event at Camp
Welch in Assonet on June 16, 2010. The event was put together by co-chairs
Jamison Souza
and Christian McCloskey
as a way to get task force members to be more familiar with each other and
the work of their agencies. Participants were taken on a "Duck
Boat" style tour of Fall River agencies as McCloskey posed questions
about the services that they offer. Once at the Camp, participants enjoyed
a three-inning game of kick ball followed by a cookout put on Boys
and Girls Club before director Peter McCarthy and his staff. The task
force recently submitted an application for the second two-year award of the 100
Best Communities for Youth and Promise Places. |
