Fall River Park Advocates in cooperation with the Fall River Park Board and the Parks Department have initiated Adopt-A-Park, a program to involve community volunteers in the process of maintaining and upgrading Fall River's 23 parks. At a workshop held on June 23, 2011, the Flint Merchants Association, People Inc., St. Anne's Neighborhood Association, Niagara Neighborhood Association, the Kosciuszko Green Committee and Father Kelly Neighborhood Association participated in a training for Adopting Father Travasso, Bicentennial, Kennedy, Pulaski, Kosciuszko Green and Father Kelly Parks. Glenn Hathaway of the Fall River Park Board described the workings of Fall River Park Advocates and Sandy Dennis, coordinator of Fall River Park Advocates reviewed paperwork. Maryann Wordell, of the Fall River Street Tree Planting Committee, made a presentation on the role of Tree Stewards in caring for the parks' trees and street trees.
