Over two dozen children and adolescents from the Jack Rua Camp for Children with Diabetes were accompanied by adult counselors and volunteers for a morning of sailing on Mount Hope Bay on July 22, 2011. Following a refreshing dip from the dock to cool off on the hot 105-degree day, campers were accompanied by experienced staff and staff of the Fall River Community Boating program as they sailed into the Bay, under the Braga Bridge and out to the Borden Flats Light and back. "It was a great day," commented Camp Director Kristen Gunderson. "Some of the children had never been in a boat before, and they all had a terrific time," she added. The Camp operates for six weeks every summer for children ages 5-14, their siblings and friends so they can benefit from hands-on learning experiences in diabetes management and support within a fun and welcoming environment.  To learn more about Camp Jack, contact Camp Director Kristen Gunderson at 508-837-6902, Ext. 101.
