What’s easy, inexpensive, and decreases your environmental “footprint” to boot? Answer: Making your own compost to feed your yard and garden. A dozen people had the chance to learn the basic concepts of composting and vermiculture at a free informational session led by University of Rhode Island Master Gardener Claire Golembewski on May 4, 2011 at the Fall River Public Library. Topics included choosing the right type of composting and the use of worms to break down kitchen waste for composting. The event was sponsored by Healthy City Fall River as part of its ongoing effort to promote the establishment of community vegetable gardens.
