The Healthy City Design Team held its annual review on December 15, 2011 of the 2010-2014 Goals and Objectives and celebration of progress moving health promotion and prevention efforts forward for another year in Fall River. School Wellness Coordinator Marcia Picard led off with a review of the progress within the schools. Her report was followed by a summary of tobacco control efforts by Tobacco Control  coordinator Marilyn Edge and a report by Mass In Motion coordinator Julianne Kelly on new park development and potential bicycle paths, as well as giving a notice of an upcoming meeting on the Groundwork project. Community garden coordinator Nicole Fortier described the five new gardens, and Annemarie Sharkey summarized the progress in farmers' markets. Jamison Souza reported on last year's Fitness Challenge and plans for the coming year, and Christian McCloskey and Wendy Garf-Lipp described the efforts of the Shannon Grant to ensure a safe and peaceful community for youth. Dr. Weed wrapped up the meeting by filling in reports of programs on substance abuse, worksite wellness, cardiovascular health and cancer control.
