Fall River Housing Authority Family and Youth Services Coordinator Joseph DaSilva welcomed Doolan Apartment residents and other guests on July 26, 2011 to a dedication ceremony of the community garden and sitting area constructed at the housing complex over the past year. "We never had a formal event to dedicate the gardens and sitting area until now," commented DaSilva who unveiled a new plaque before asking others to speak. The plaque, mounted on a post in the center of the garden, reads 'Dedicated for the peaceful enjoyment of the residents of Edward F Doolan Apartments." The garden includes a shaded sitting area with benches and plantings and a community garden that was constructed in 2009. Speakers included Healthy City Fall River coordinator Dr. David Weed, BMC HealthNet Plan spokesperson Brenda Viveiros, and Joint Tennant Council president William King.
